This year’s Equator Prize, under the theme “Nature for Climate Action,” will recognize innovative initiatives from Indigenous Peoples and local communities that advance nature-based solutions for local sustainable development. Winning initiatives will be honored for their successes in creating impactful climate solutions, restoring and sustainably managing nature and biodiversity, and identifying actions promoting green and circular economy. We’ll recognize success in two main categories: 1) Nature for Climate Mitigation, Adaptation and Resilience; and 2) Nature for a Just Transition. Special consideration will be given to nominees championing youth and women-led climate action.

Anyone can nominate eligible Indigenous and local initiatives here until 23 February, 2025. Nominations can be submitted in English, French, Spanish, or Portuguese. Self-nominations are also welcome.
